Join Amazon's Operations Legal Department to provide strategic legal counsel on workplace health and safety regulatory matters across our North American operations. You'll serve as a key advisor to business leaders on compliance with occupational safety and health regulations and represent Amazon in interactions with regulatory agencies. This role offers high visibility with senior leadership and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on employee safety.
Key job responsibilities

Provide day-to-day legal counsel to operations, health and safety, and human resources teams on workplace safety regulatory compliance
Lead legal response to critical workplace incidents and escalations, including serious injuries and fatalities
Represent Amazon in interactions with regulatory agencies, including OSHA inspections, investigations, and citation resolution
Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training materials that reflect current regulatory requirements
Counsel business leaders on legal implications of proposed safety initiatives and operational decisions
Monitor changes in workplace health and safety regulations across jurisdictions and advise on necessary business adaptations
Build and maintain productive relationships with federal and state regulatory agencies
Participate in on-call rotation to provide urgent legal guidance

A day in the life
You'll provide real-time legal guidance to operations, safety, and HR teams navigating complex regulatory requirements. Expect phone-based counseling on compliance matters, reviewing safety policies and training materials, and advising on regulatory strategy. When critical incidents occur you'll lead the legal response and engage directly with regulatory agencies including OSHA and state authorities. Travel is minimal, but you'll participate in an on-call rotation (approximately one week every eight weeks) for urgent matters.
About The Team
We are a collaborative legal team within Amazon's Worldwide Operations Legal group, supporting compliance across regulatory verticals including workplace health and safety. We work closely with operations, safety, and HR partners across warehouses, delivery networks, and operational facilities. Safety is a top priority for Amazon's leadership, giving our work significant visibility at senior levels. You'll join a team tackling legal issues while making tangible impact on workplace safety for thousands of employees and service providers.
Basic Qualifications


5+ years of legal experience
Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
Experience advising on regulatory compliance matters, complex litigations, or representing organizations in regulatory proceedings
Demonstrated ability to research and analyze complex legal issues
Experience providing practical legal counsel to business stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications


Experience in Workplace Safety Law
Experience in Regulatory Law
Experience with workplace health and safety law, particularly OSHA regulations and standards
Background representing organizations in interactions with federal or state regulatory agencies (OSHA, state labor departments, or similar)
Experience in industries with significant safety regulatory oversight (warehousing, logistics, construction, utilities, manufacturing)
Knowledge of occupational safety standards and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions
Experience handling critical incident response
Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with regulatory authorities

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
