About the Role
A community health center is seeking an Optometrist to join an established eye care program and provide comprehensive optometry services in a mission-driven, patient-centered setting. This position will primarily support a newer West Bank vision center (approximately 3 miles from New Orleans proper) and will work collaboratively with clinic leadership and support staff to deliver high-quality care to the community.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch.
• No call / no weekends: No weekend clinic and no call responsibilities.
• Patient volume: Approximately 15–18 patients per day.
• Clinical mix: Roughly half routine exams (glasses and contact lenses) and half medical visits (e.g., glaucoma management, eyelid growths, conjunctivitis/pink eye, and related concerns).
• Scope of practice: Opportunity to perform procedures consistent with your training and comfort; refer to specialists when outside scope.
• Team support: Supported by a technician and front-desk staff; provider practices independently on-site.
• Program leadership: Collaborate with an experienced, longstanding lead optometrist within the program.
