The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for a full-time, Emergency Medicine Physician. Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. You'll enjoy a unique combination of two great American heritages: a little Cajun, and since we're less than 15 minutes from the Texas border, a little Lone Star, too. Highlights of this position include:

Competitive Starting Salary $335,000 - $340,000 per year
•
Work Schedule: Varies
•
Perform appropriate medical screening exam on all patients check-in to be seen to the Emergency Department.
•
Demonstrates the ability to recognize the need for timely consultation, admission and specialized patient care.
•
Provides continuity of care by performing patient hand-off when transferring care of patient to another physician.
•
Accurately interprets and evaluates clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status.
•
Recognizes changes in behavior, symptoms, signs and other pertinent facts about a patient and has the knowledge to modify in real time, the plan of treatment.
•
Acts quickly to recognize emergency situations and makes timely necessary corrective action.
•
Maintains clear, accurate, and current clinical records.
•
Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent
•
Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
•
Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
•
Preferred Experience: Three (3) years minimum Emergency Room/Department experience or Residency equivalent. Board eligible/certified in American Board of Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine.
