Duties & Responsibilities
Litigation Management – Resolve disputes prior to commencement of litigation. Respond to subpoenas. Actively manage the Company’s business litigation (i.e. product labeling, breach of contract, landlord-tenant disputes, etc.). Work closely with outside counsel to investigate claims, respond to discovery and review pleadings. Assist in determining appropriate litigation strategy. Attend mediations, hearings and trials.
Regulatory Matters – Provide legal advice to the Company regarding compliance with laws, statutes, and regulations. Strong emphasis on federal regulations administered by the Food and Drug Administration, Consumer Product Safety Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Communications Commission, US Department of Agriculture and US Customs. Assist business departments in mitigating state and local compliance issues, such as health inspection issues, fire marshal inspection issues, weights and measures inspections, and a variety of advertising, licensing and regulatory issues. Work closely with store operations to develop measures to avoid compliance issues.

Qualifications:
J.D. from an ABA accredited law school required. Minimum of five years of legal experience including significant in-house and/or major law firm experience preferred. Knowledge of the retail industry is helpful, but not required.
