About this role
About Pulley
Pulley helps the country’s top architects, builders, and retailers speed up every project in their portfolio. With AI-powered permitting intelligence and expert guidance, we eliminate costly delays and bring predictability across the full lifecycle of commercial projects.
Today, permitting is the slowest, most uncertain part of building, spread across 19,000+ jurisdictions with different rules, timelines, and surprises. Pulley gives project teams the clarity and predictability they need to move from planning to opening without delays.
We support rollout programs for brands like J.Crew, Solidcore, and Hibbett Sports, as well as major data center buildouts, EV charging networks, and other commercial projects. Our platform dramatically reduces approval timelines, improves forecasting accuracy, and removes thousands of hours of manual work from design and construction teams.
Founded in 2021, Pulley combines deep permitting expertise with purpose-built AI from people who have created products used by millions. We’re backed by CRV, Susa Ventures, Fifth Wall, and leaders from Plaid, Segment, ServiceTitan, and Procore.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As Pulley’s Head of Business Development and Partnerships, you’ll work directly with our co-founder Andreas to build the function from the ground up. You’ll identify, test, and grow the partnerships and channels that bring new business to Pulley across various new and existing verticals.
In this role, you will:
- Decide where to focus: identify promising partners, networks, and channels, and prioritize the opportunities with the greatest potential.
- Source, pitch, negotiate, and launch partnerships, owning the work from the first conversation through execution.
- Build our channel partner program, recruiting and equipping partners to introduce Pulley to new customers.
- Work closely with Sales to turn partner introductions into qualified opportunities and revenue.
- Partner with Marketing and our founders on events, co-marketing, and other opportunities that put Pulley in front of the right audiences.
- Own and grow long-term partner relationships, serving as their primary point of contact at Pulley.
- Measure what works and build a repeatable playbook for sourcing, enabling, and managing partners.
- Bring market feedback into the business to sharpen our positioning and go-to-market strategy.
WHO YOU ARE
- You’re an entrepreneurial builder who enjoys turning an idea into something that works.
- You can spot the people and organizations that open doors, earn their trust, and turn relationships into business.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity and can decide what to pursue without an established playbook.
- You move easily between strategy and hands-on execution.
- You’re a persuasive communicator who learns a customer’s business and explains Pulley’s value in their terms.
- You collaborate naturally across Sales, Marketing, and leadership, and follow through on what you start.
NEED TO HAVE
- Experience building new business opportunities, partnerships, or go-to-market initiatives with measurable results.
- A background as an early-stage BD or growth operator, founder, or investor with prior hands-on operating experience - or a comparable path.
- Evidence that you’ve taken an initiative from idea through execution, built external relationships, and delivered business results.
- Strong commercial judgment: you can evaluate opportunities, prioritize your time, and negotiate agreements.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Comfort with a compensation structure that combines base and variable compensation.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience building a partner or channel program from scratch.
- Familiarity with construction, commercial real estate, or selling technology and services into those industries.
- Experience with architecture, retail, or data center customers.
- Relationships with owners, developers, brands, or firms such as CBRE and JLL.
- Experience working with Marketing on events, co-branded content, and campaigns that generate pipeline.
