About the Role:
Moneris, Canada's leading payment processor, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build the next generation of payment processing systems. You will design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs and services.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-throughput payment processing services using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices architecture
- Implement security best practices for PCI-DSS compliant payment systems
- Collaborate with product, QA, and infrastructure teams in agile sprints
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions
- Optimize application performance and database queries
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices
- Mentor junior developers and participate in hiring activities
Requirements:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience in Java/Spring ecosystem
- Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Strong understanding of API design, REST principles, and security
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerization
- Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Understanding of payment processing, PCI-DSS, or financial systems preferred
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- BSc in Computer Science or equivalent
