California Licensure and Legal Requirements
In California, neuromodulator, dermal filler, and IV treatments are the practice of medicine. Candidates must hold one of the licenses below and work under our Medical Director's supervision and written protocols. LVNs, medical assistants, and estheticians are not eligible for this role.
Requirements that apply to every candidate
- Active, unencumbered California license, verifiable on the DCA license lookup.
- Work under a physician-owned medical practice with a Medical Director.
- No treatment without a documented good faith exam by a physician, NP, or PA and a patient-specific order (Bus. & Prof. Code § 2242). The exam may be done by telehealth when it meets the standard of care (Bus. & Prof. Code § 2290.5).
- Follow the practice's written standardized procedures and protocols for injectables, IV therapy, and complication management, including emergency hyaluronidase use.
- Current BLS certification.
- Maintain license renewal and continuing education (30 contact hours every 2 years for RNs and NPs).
- Carry or be covered by professional liability (malpractice) insurance, as provided by [Practice name] or held individually.
Hands-on injector training certificates are expected, but California does not issue a separate state "injector license" or require a specific certification course. The license, supervision, and protocols are what make the practice legal.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years as an aesthetic injector with an established patient following in the Inland Empire.
- Advanced training in cannula technique, lip and full-face balancing, and biostimulators.
- Experience with lasers, microneedling, chemical peels, or weight-management programs.
- Aesthetic nursing certification or equivalent advanced credential.
- ACLS certification.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
