About the Role:
Octopus Energy is looking for a Data Scientist to join our AI research team in Berlin. You will develop machine learning models that help optimize energy consumption, predict demand, and enable the green energy transition.
Responsibilities:
- Develop predictive models for energy demand forecasting and grid optimization
- Build and deploy ML pipelines for real-time energy analytics
- Analyze large-scale energy consumption data to identify patterns and anomalies
- Research and implement state-of-the-art deep learning techniques
- Collaborate with software engineers to productionize ML models
- Present findings and insights to stakeholders
- Contribute to open-source energy analytics tools
Requirements:
- 3+ years of data science experience
- Strong Python skills (scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, pandas)
- Experience with time series analysis and forecasting
- Solid understanding of statistics and machine learning theory
- Experience with SQL and data engineering tools
- Experience in energy, utilities, or sustainability preferred
- MSc/PhD in a quantitative field preferred
- Fluent English; German is a plus
