Description
Publix is looking for a Real Estate Attorney to join its legal team in Lakeland, Florida. The primary purpose of this position is to provide legal support to the Real Estate and Facilities Departments with respect to day-to-day operations and new store growth, including leasing, acquisitions, developments, and other strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include:
Analyzing and providing legal advice on real estate and facilities transactions, strategies, and other issues affecting large portfolio of retail and industrial locations, with a focus on problem-solving.
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents related to real estate and facilities, such as build-to-suit leases, ground leases, purchase and sale documents, declarations, restrictive covenants, easements, development agreements, assignments, guaranties, etc.
Reviewing and analyzing title and survey matters.
Working collaboratively with other members of the legal team to prepare and maintain forms, develop processes, manage special projects, etc.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school
Minimum of 5 years related legal experience
Admission in good standing to a State Bar
Excellent document drafting, negotiation, interpersonal, and time-management skills
Ability to type 40-50 words per minutes
Ability to apply logical or critical thinking
Ability to apply creative and innovative thinking
Ability to quickly and proactively identify and analyze issues and develop solutions
Ability to make sound judgments based on knowledge, experience, observations and available information
Ability to read and interpret legal and regulatory documents
Ability to understand the target audience and adapt communications as needed
Ability to deal with confidential matters
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to lead and manage resources and coordinate efforts of others
Ability to work independently, productively and follow through on all responsibilities to bring projects to a successful conclusion
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format
Ability to maintain independence and objectivity
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word
Experience with retail real estate matters
Must be willing to work in a cross-functional setting
Preferred Qualifications
Member of Florida Bar
5 years practice experience with a concentration in commercial leasing and acquisitions
Knowledge of supermarket business

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
