Job Summary:
Provide ionizing radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Accurately delivers the prescribed, planned course of therapy.
- Performs simulation/tumor localization procedures.
- Orders for care are scheduled, carried out and documented in the electronic chart
- Mentors New Graduate Radiation Therapists as needed by the department.
- Educating the patient on the procedure prior to performing.
- Responsible for linear accelerator warm-up and daily QA checks.
- Take weekly portal images for treatment verification and have physician check.
- Take patient photos and treatment field photos and transfer to patient chart.
- Checks patient & chart identification, prepares the treatment room, sets up the immobilization devices, blocks, and tattoos patients.
- Assures that the patient is seen by Oncologist weekly and more often if recognizes signs of treatment complication.
- Observes and practices Radiation Safety Standards.
- Maintains equipment and notifies service representative of any problems.
