About the Role
A highly respected boutique defense law firm with a 50-year reputation representing leading hospitals and healthcare organizations is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing team. This is a hands-on opportunity where you will independently manage cases from inception through resolution while working closely with experienced senior partners.
The practice focuses on:
75% Medical Malpractice Defense
25% General Liability Defense (including high-profile sports and entertainment venues)
Key Responsibilities
Manage a full caseload from intake through settlement, trial, or resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal correspondence
Prepare and argue Motions for Summary Judgment (MSJs)
Conduct legal research and case strategy analysis
Review and analyze medical, employment, and related records
Take and defend depositions, interview witnesses, and attend court hearings
Communicate directly with clients including hospital administrators and physicians
Manage deadlines and billing requirements in a fast-paced litigation environment
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active State Bar of California license in good standing
2–5 years of litigation experience preferred (up to 9 years considered for strong candidates)
Prior Insurance Defense experience strongly preferred
Experience with time billing required
Strong drafting, deposition, and case management skills
Must live within commuting distance to Los Angeles office
