About this role

AWS Global Sales drives adoption of the AWS cloud worldwide, enabling customers of all sizes to innovate and expand in the cloud. Our team empowers every customer to grow by providing tailored service, unmatched technology, and unwavering support. We dive deep to understand each customer's unique challenges, then craft innovative solutions that accelerate their success. This customer-first approach is how we built the world's most adopted cloud. Join us and help us grow.
AWS is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to help large enterprises turn complex transformation decisions into clear, executable plans. You will work with customer executives, architects, engineers, account teams, and AWS partners on four connected priorities: Migration, Modernization, Agentic Migrations, and Cloud2AWS.

This role sits on the Migration and Modernization Solutions Architecture team. We are a senior, experienced team that works across industries and technology domains. We are brought into high-impact customer situations where the path forward is difficult, the business stakes are high, and the solution must extend beyond a single AWS service.

You will help customers assess application portfolios, build business cases, choose the right migration and modernization paths, and design target architectures. The work spans data center exits, application and database modernization, and custom application refactoring. Through Cloud2AWS, you will also help customers move workloads from other cloud providers to AWS by developing service mappings, technical strategies, and compelling business cases.

Agentic Migrations are changing how customers discover, assess, plan, migrate, and modernize workloads. You will help customers apply AWS Transform, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Kiro, AgentCore, and agentic workflows to reduce manual effort, accelerate decisions, and improve migration outcomes. You do not need to be an expert in every technology. You do need strong architectural judgment, curiosity, and the ability to earn trust with both executives and builders.

This is a role for someone who enjoys working on hard, ambiguous customer problems, influencing decisions, and turning lessons from individual engagements into reusable approaches that improve the broader AWS field.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery with customer executives, architects, developers, infrastructure teams, security teams, and operations leaders.
  • Assess application and infrastructure portfolios, identify dependencies and constraints, and recommend practical migration and modernization paths.
  • Connect technical architecture to business outcomes through business cases, total cost of ownership analysis, risk reduction, operating model changes, and faster product delivery.
  • Design secure, resilient, scalable target architectures across applications, compute, data, networking, integration, and operations.
  • Help customers move beyond basic rehosting when modernization creates a better business outcome, including containers, serverless, managed databases, event-driven architectures, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Lead Cloud2AWS discovery, service mapping, business case development, and migration planning for customers moving from other cloud providers.
  • Apply Agentic Migration approaches and AI-powered tooling to accelerate portfolio analysis, planning, code transformation, and modernization.
  • Use AWS migration and modernization capabilities such as MAP, AWS Transform, AWS Application Migration Service, AWS Database Migration Service, Amazon EKS, Amazon ECS, Amazon Bedrock, and AgentCore.
  • Work as one team with account Solutions Architects, Customer Solutions Managers, Technical Account Managers, Sales, Business Development, Professional Services, and AWS Partners.
  • Guide opportunities from early strategy through technical validation and customer commitment.
  • Build reusable architectures, playbooks, workshops, and field guidance from customer engagements.
  • Mentor other Solutions Architects and influence AWS services and programs through direct customer feedback.

A day in the life
In your first year, you will:

  • Become a trusted advisor to a focused set of strategic customers and account teams.
  • Lead several complex migration or modernization opportunities from discovery through an agreed technical plan.
  • Help customers make clear portfolio and architecture decisions that accelerate commitment and reduce execution risk.
  • Deliver workshops or working sessions that turn strategy into action.
  • Create at least one reusable mechanism, architecture, or playbook that other AWS teams can apply.
  • Build strong working relationships across Sales, Solutions Architecture, Customer Solutions Management, Professional Services, Business Development, and Partners.

About the team
The Migration and Modernization Solutions Architecture team works across industries and technologies to accelerate cloud transformation at scale. We combine deep customer engagement with pattern recognition from hundreds of customer conversations. Our four focus areas are Migration, Modernization, Agentic Migrations, and Cloud2AWS.

We operate as strategic members of the account team. We work backwards from customer outcomes, bring the right specialists together, and package what we learn into repeatable assets for the broader AWS field. Team members have room to shape programs, influence service roadmaps, publish guidance, and build new approaches to difficult customer problems.
