Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Painter to manage painting crews and ensure top-quality results on residential and commercial projects. You will oversee surface preparation, application techniques, and crew productivity while maintaining our reputation for exceptional craftsmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Lead painting crews of 2-5 painters on residential and commercial projects
- Perform and oversee surface preparation including scraping, sanding, caulking, and priming
- Apply paint, stain, and coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment (airless, HVLP)
- Ensure accurate color matching and consistent finish quality
- Protect surrounding surfaces, furniture, and landscaping with proper masking and covering
- Plan daily work schedules and assign tasks to crew members
- Inspect completed work for quality and address any deficiencies
- Communicate with project managers and customers about project progress
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment
- Follow EPA RRP rules for lead paint and safety protocols
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional painting experience with crew leadership
- Expert knowledge of surface preparation techniques and paint application methods
- Proficiency with airless sprayers, HVLP sprayers, and conventional equipment
- EPA RRP Lead-Safe certified or willingness to obtain certification
- Strong color matching and finishing skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to work at heights on ladders and scaffolding
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in quality work
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
