HVAC Apprentice Sustainable Mechanical Systems — Portland, OR Salary: $38,000 - $48,000 per year About Us: Sustainable Mechanical Systems (SMS) is a manufacturer's representative of engineered industrial and commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. We provide sustainable, innovative, and energy efficient HVAC systems. Position Overview: We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as an HVAC Apprentice. Responsibilities: - Assist lead technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems - Learn to diagnose common issues with furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, and ductless systems - Help with ductwork fabrication, assembly, and installation - Carry materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites - Maintain a clean and organized work area and service vehicle - Complete apprenticeship coursework and training modules as required - Follow all safety protocols and company procedures - Interact professionally with customers and team members Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required - Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn a skilled trade - Ability to work in physically demanding conditions including crawl spaces, attics, and rooftops - Valid driver's license and reliable transportation - Ability to pass a background check and drug screening - Good communication skills and a positive attitude - Prior experience in construction, mechanical, or trades work is a plus but not required Benefits: - Paid apprenticeship with structured on-the-job training - Health and dental insurance - Paid holidays and vacation time - Company-provided tools and uniforms - Tuition assistance for trade school and certifications - Clear path to journeyman-level HVAC technician Sustainable Mechanical Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
