About the Role:
Tesla is seeking a Senior UX Designer to shape the in-vehicle experience for millions of drivers worldwide. You will design intuitive, beautiful, and safe interfaces for Tesla's vehicle touchscreen, mobile app, and connected services. This role requires a rare combination of creative excellence and technical depth.
Responsibilities:
- Design end-to-end user experiences for Tesla's vehicle infotainment system and companion mobile app
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma
- Conduct user research including usability testing, contextual inquiry, and heuristic evaluation
- Collaborate with software engineers, firmware teams, and hardware designers to ensure design feasibility
- Define and maintain design systems and component libraries for consistency across platforms
- Present design concepts and rationale to cross-functional leadership
- Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the product development process
- Analyze user behavior data and metrics to inform design decisions
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to team culture
Requirements:
- 5+ years of UX/UI design experience with a strong portfolio
- Expert proficiency in Figma (prototyping, component design, design systems)
- Experience designing for embedded systems, automotive, or hardware-constrained environments preferred
- Strong understanding of interaction design, visual design, and information architecture
- Experience with user research methods and usability testing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment with tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field
Nice to Have:
- Experience with motion design and animation (After Effects, Principle)
- Familiarity with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, React)
- Interest in automotive technology, EVs, and sustainable energy
- Experience with design for accessibility (WCAG compliance)
