Job Responsibilities:
•
Performs clinical assignments within scope of practice to maximize patient experience and ensure patient safety.
•
Promotes and facilitates the compliance and understanding of Joint Commission, NYS DOH, Infection Control and all regulatory standards.
•
Under the direction of a provider or RN, educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
•
Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
•
Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and proficiency validations according to regulatory standards. Includes tri annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and lab credentialing if required by department.
•
Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
•
Participates in Performance Improvement activities, reviews PI data and assists in the development of Performance Improvement plans.
•
Participates in educational opportunities
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
•
Graduated an accredited school of Practical Nursing
•
Current New York State Practical Nurse License, a Limited Permit, or ability to practice within the 90 day grace period allowed by New York State guidelines
Preferred:
•
Basic Skills Certifications (CPR)
Work Environment
• Work is performed in an office environment and patient care areas which require working in proximity to other employees and patients. Rooms are air conditioned and heated.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, pushing, and lifting.
• Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
• PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.
